| "Domino regards Quality as a journey towards excellence. We are proud of the steps we have taken towards this goal and of our continuing commitment to improvement in everything we do." Nigel Bond, Managing Director
Domino's commitment to quality and service has resulted in industry and government accreditations being awarded to the company's global subsidiaries. Domino's ISO accreditation in the UK and USA were industry firsts, and is now a standard that all subsidiaries aspire to. For more information about Domino's successes in business, manufacturing and customer support, please see the Awards and Accreditations section. Manufacturing ExcellenceDomino's global commitment to total care and quality management is encompassed throughout the whole production process. Continuous improvement programmes are part of Domino's philosophy - especially on the factory floor, where systems to enhance quality and efficiency ensure that the customer, is always guaranteed a premium, reliable product.
Local Manufacturing Accreditations
Production "on demand"A key factor in Domino's production efficiency is the use of lean manufacturing techniques worldwide. "One-piece flow" means that machines are made to order - in response to demand from customers, on a flow-line assembly. Total Supply ManagementDomino's Total Supply Management procedure makes assembly parts available on an "on-line" inventory system. Suppliers regularly check stocks, replacing when necessary - gone are the days of vast stockrooms, where finding parts would be time-consuming and maintaining high stocks costly and wasteful. Flow-line FlexibilityThe flow-line is designed to cope with the production of 1.5 million variants of Domino products and machine lead-time is less than 5 days. The production process is incredibly flexible - assembly tasks have been broken down into small 8-minute bites. This means it is not only easy to train staff, but the risk of mistakes is also reduced and product reliability is increased. Domino has invested in the manufacturing and assembly facilities at a number of sites all around the world to improve efficiency, increase output and transform factory areas into light, airy environments. Ergonomic studies have been carried out to create the optimum working environment for employees and reduce the risk of RSI - there are even electrostatically protected floors, curved working surfaces and conveniently accessible tool racks. All Domino print heads are also assembled in a "clean- room" environment to prevent the risk of contamination. Employee Continuous Improvement ProgrammesIt is largely due to the employees that many exciting changes have been implemented on the factory floor. As a result of the ideas and suggestions, 25% additional space has been created in the factory at the Cambridge Headquarters and productivity has increased by 30%. Output has doubled in the last five years with no increase in headcount and lead-time for machine construction has reduced by more than three-fold! For further information please contact Domino. |

Continuous efforts have built a world-class organisation that sets the industry standard for operational excellence. To ensure that these standards are consistent throughout the world a formal channel standard for sales and service has been established to which subsidiaries and distributors are regularly audited.
