Manufacturing

Rachel Hurst, Group Operations Director

I joined Domino from college as a Test Technician in 1990, and moved into manufacturing engineering whilst studying for an MSc in Engineering Business Management (sponsored by Domino). In this area I was involved in developing new products and introducing them into operations. I then went on to be a Product Manager in Marketing and helped launch the A-Series product range to our sales channels, which allowed me to travel extensively and gain commercial understanding of our industry.

After 4 years in marketing, I was offered a chance to work in operations running the printer factories, working with the teams to develop towards our World Class Manufacturing aspiration where we have won 2 national awards. Having worked within the whole value chain from requirements capture to delivery of product, I now have the opportunity to work with the development team once more. Program Management is a challenge, which pulls on all my experiences at Domino to date, to help with the launch of new products for the Company.

After 18 months working with Development I was offered an opportunity back in operations as the Group Operations Director where I am responsible for operations development for the group which includes designing manufacturing and logistics networks that are best placed to deliver exceptional service to our customers. All the plants are required to develop and improve Lean manufacturing principles to enable agility in response to customer demand and add value for our business that reflects the quality of our brand.

Sara Williams, CP Team Leader

After graduating from Brighton University with a BA (Hons) in Business Studies, I joined Domino two years ago as a Manufacturing Co-ordinator, as part of the Domino Graduate Scheme. Domino has helped me develop and expand my abilities and capabilities, which has recently included spending three months in America at our site in California.
I am currently assigned, on a secondment, to the position of Team Leader for our Commercial Printing division. In this role I am responsible for managing a team of ten employees and actively participating and enjoying being part of the successful CP department.

My move from the fast track core company product to a more detailed and complicated

product has allowed me to gain a better understanding of Domino’s operations.
As a successful world-class winning manufacturing company, I have been fully supported by Domino in my career choices. I am also looking forward to having a long and successful future with the company.

Steve Impey, CP Production Manager

I started at Domino as a Manufacturing Engineer in 2000. In the 5 years following, my roles have been extremely dynamic, with my responsibilities changing on a regular basis.
Early in my career at Domino, as part of my personal development plan, a career path was identified and designed to culminate towards a Production Management role. As my personal preference is to work in a people based environment, this was a natural progression and a path that I was happy to follow. I had no experience of managing people at this stage so I investigated further education opportunities, a decision which Domino backed fully. The course that I chose was an MBA in Business Management.

 Steve Impey

Domino has supported me fully during the first 2 years of the course and has just agreed to pay for my final year. Through the help and support I have received from Domino, my career prospects have flourished and made me feel like an integral part of the success that Domino, as a company, has achieved.
