Ax-Series - How to Calibrate the Ink and Make-up Level Sensors

Safety Note

Shut down the printer. Disconnect the power.

If you do not, then ink can spray out and onto the user.

Wear protective equipment such as gloves and glasses when near the printer.

Physical contact with printer ink or make-up can cause skin or eye damage.

Used ITM and paper towels contain residual chemicals which are hazardous to the environment.

Follow local waste disposal regulations to safely dispose of the used ITM and paper towels.

Ensure the make-up cartridge, ink cartridge, ITM and MUM are removed from the printer.

If they are not removed, the printer’s zero fluid level will be reset to the wrong value.

Switch off (hold the standby button for 2 seconds) and wait for the printer to shut down.
Disconnect the power lead from the rear of the printer.
Open the door and remove the make-up cartridge.
Remove the ink cartridge.
Remove the ITM. Push retaining clips up then pull the ITM towards you, away from the Ink Block

NOTE

If the ITM does not move with moderate pressure, push the ITM away from you (which will break any seal caused by dry ink) and try again.
Unscrew and remove the thumb screw that secures the MUM to the printer cabinet.
Remove the MUM from the printer cabinet, take care to remove the make-up recovery tube.
