Within Domino the Marking Materials department is a multidisciplinary group of scientists, who are responsible for maintaining and expanding the Domino ink range, primarily with our CIJ and DOD printer technologies. The department is broken down into a number of teams which focus on Coding & Marking, Validation or Platform development. The group investigates the physics and chemistry of ink-jet, and design novel solutions for our customers. The company has invested heavily to provide a range of analytical facilities to formulate and test ink products whilst also having strong links with academic research.
The role we are currently look to fill is a Senior Chemist in our Ink Development team here at Domino. The role is very varied and is a lab based position which involves working on the design and formulation of new inkjet inks with a particular focus on investigating novel chemistries and approaches for use in our future ink development projects. You will work closely with colleagues in both technical and operational functions to develop formulations and product designs to specifications that meet both our customers and business needs.
As part of your role you will;
- Investigation of novel chemistries for use in inkjet applications
- Development and characterisation of new product designs ensuring best practice and consistency with group processes
- Ensure product designs are created holistically considering Customer, Operational and Regulatory requirements
- Contribute to the Marking Materials quality and process improvement plan and lead improvement initiatives
- Manage safety, health and environmental issues in areas of responsibility
- Create and promote opportunities for technology development within the Marking Materials group, wider R&D team and external organisations
To be successful in this role you will need to have a PhD in Chemistry (or a related science), experience within a research group (ideally in coatings, inks or formulation science area) formulation, Polymer and Synthetic chemistry experience and good working knowledge or experimental design methods Postdoctoral research experience is desirable along with Inkjet, digital or non-impact printing experience.
