Development Engineer


A development engineer is required to support the analysis of print quality in the digital print area of the business. This will include identifying key printing parameters and in order to optimise the product development cycle through automation and data analysis.  This will require combining specialised camera equipment and printer hardware to optimise the generation of ink droplets using defined methodology. 
You would need to be able to analyse Correlating print quality data obtained from commercial software to ink and substrate performance. Communicating findings to both Chemists and engineering in product development is essential.
Image processing using MatLab is an advantage, designing custom applications specific to different aspects of print quality. An interest in programming is essential.
  • Capture requirements for development and commercial teams.
  • Development and delivery of robust test capability, evolving test metrics, building test procedures and providing analysis of data.
  • Aid development and evolution of physical models, through practical experimentation combined with analytical and empirical methods
  • Specify and execute verification and validation exercises of proposed test metrics or physical models.  Seeking to align and correlate with national / international standards where appropriate.

BSc (Hons) or equivalent in science / engineering.


  • Experience in recording and presenting data.
  • Used to working in small multidisciplinary teams.
  • Writing technical reports and procedures.

  • Numerical analysis of data using appropriate software tools.
  • General computer skills (i.e. office suite, setting up hardware, connecting instrumentation …).
