Position Summary: This position is responsible for preparing and supporting the end-to-end Inventory, cost accounting, and financial reporting functions. The Staff Accountant determines and implements cost accounting procedures and methods. Responsible for the preparation and analysis of cost reports and costing audits. Examines and reviews unusual cost records and ensures cost data is allocated correctly. The Staff Accountant should possess in depth analytical skills, proven time management, ability to meet deadlines, review processes from end to end and make recommendations for efficiencies.

Main Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Complete all monthly and annual reporting as it relates to inventory and Other Costs of Sales
  • Valuation of stock in compliance with US GAAP and internal policies
  • Perform inventory cost roll ups annually and as needed throughout the year
  • Maintain standard costs, transfer prices and item master details for all inventory items for both the US and Canadian organizations
  • Analyze slow moving and obsolete stock and ensure adequate inventory reserves are in place, calculate printer amortization
  • Detail analysis of freight and warranty costs to ensure accurate reporting and to minimize expenses
  • Audit inventory transactions and product returns to ensure compliance with internal policy
  • Journal entries and account reconciliations, yearend schedules and audit interaction
  • Provide support to logistics and manufacturing plant as it relates to inventory transactions, inventory valuations and expense items
  • Provide senior management with the reports and information necessary to make informed business decisions
  • Make recommendations regarding stock dispositions, purchases and reserves
  Other Responsibilities
  • Cross train to provide back up for general monthly and weekly reporting

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting required
  • At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment required
  • Experience with Oracle required
  • Ability to interact with all levels in an organization (customer service, logistics, senior management, purchasing, payables, etc.)

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office – Excel; PowerPoint and Word

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate

 Physical Demands

☒ Sedentary work. Sedentary work involves lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally, and other sedentary criteria are met.
