Digital Colour Label Press
Combines the productivity of flexo
with the flexibility of digital
Utilising piezo drop-on-demand inkjet printing technology based on Kyocera print jetting assemblies,
the N-Seriescombines the productivity of flexo with the flexibility of digital printing delivering improved profitability and a reduction in production costs.
Delivering consistent print results with a 600 dpi native resolution, the N-Serieshas been designed to respond to the increasing challenges presented by brand owners for more direct, personalised customer communication. It also addresses their requirement to achieve efficiency savings through greater production efficiencies and a reduction in stock inventories and waste.
Operating at speeds up to 75 m/min, the 333mm web width N-Seriesredefines the range of work a label converter can digitally print. Offering fast change-over and short run length options traditionally associated with digital technology, its ability to print up to 1,500m²/hr also makes long production runs cost effective making the N-Seriesparticularly suited to variable, localised label applications including language changes, personalisation and special promotional packaging initiatives.
How it works
Drop on demand (DOD) is a broad classification of inkjet printing technology where drops are ejected from the print head only when required. The drops are formed by the creation of a pressure pulse within the print head. The particular method used to generate this pressure pulse creates the primary sub-categories within DOD, namely thermal and piezoelectric (piezo).
With piezo DOD, a piezoelectric crystal undergoes distortion when an electric field is applied. This distortion creates a pressure pulse in the ink chamber within the print head, which in turn, causes an ink droplet to be ejected from the nozzle onto the substrate.
