Ax-Series - How to Clean an i-Pulse RS Print Head

Switch off the printer before starting this procedure.

If the printer is running when this procedure is done, wash fluid may be sucked into the ink system through the gutter. This may cause the viscosity of the ink to become too thin.

  • The i-Pulse RS print head requires regular cleaning when using heavily pigmented ink.
  • Check the print head before every shift and clean as necessary.

  • Required tools and equipment: lint free tissue and wash.
    • The correct wash type is listed on the printer's internal configuration label.

Step 1

Disconnect Printer from Power

  1. If the printer is on, press and hold the Power Button.png button for 2 seconds and wait for the printer to shut down.

Step 2

Clean Print Head

  1. Twist and remove the print head cover.



  2. Follow the annotated instructions in the following illustration.

    EXPLANATION

    • Clean in the slots with the correct wash type
    • Dry using lint free tissue
    • When cleaned, use a magnifying glass to ensure both slots are lint free.

    • Clean any ink residue from deflector plates.

    • Clean any ink residue from gutter area.

Step 3

Reassemble Print Head

  1. Replace the print head cover.

  2. Dispose of waste solvent by following local waste disposal regulations.
