About the role

This is an exciting and rare opportunity to join a progressive, global, manufacturing company and gather relevant experience, skills, and behaviours through the Mechanical Engineering Degree (Product Design and Development) apprenticeship standard. 
The aim of the programme is not only to prepare you for the workplace but also to ensure that your acquired competencies are transferable and can be built upon over time. As an Engineering Apprentice, you will be involved in some of the day-to-day activities and projects delivered by the different departments within Operations function. The rotation-based program will help you to develop practical engineering skills, including experimental / new model development, component investigation and problem solving, measurement, control, and inspection. The academic course will help you to acquire a broader understanding of the manufacturing processes, engineering operations and business management as well as product improvement and engineering project management.

About you

If you are passionate about engineering and curious to find out how things work, how they are designed and how they can be improved and if you are considering a career as a qualified engineer, this is a perfect opportunity for you. 
As an Apprentice, you will be learning on the job and through a formal academic course which will require lots of self-motivation and good organisation skills. You will have to be able to drive your own development, be highly motivated and determined. 
We are looking for a ‘self-starter’, who always wants to give their best, sets themselves challenging targets, can make their own decisions. 
You will have to be able to work and communicate clearly and effectively within a team and interact and help others when required.
You will have a logical approach and be able to think on feet. You will enjoy solving complex problems and finding out the root causes. 
You need to have a great attention to details and follow rules and procedures especially those relating to Health and Safety.  
We would expect you to have 5 GCSEs at Grade 6 or above, including Mathematics, English and a Science, Technology or Engineering related subject, as well as A Levels at grade C or above in both a Mathematical based subject and a Science, Technology, Engineering or additional Mathematics related subject, or 90+ credits in an Engineering BTEC at level 3.
