About the role

The role of Group Fluids SHE (Safety Health and Environment) Manager is vital to safe and successful company operation; it will ensure a consistent, proactive and high quality health and safety culture exists across the fluids processing plants. 

Reporting into the Group Fluids Operations Director, your role will support our Fluids sites based in the UK, US, China and India working closely with the Group SHE Functions, local Site Management , local engineering functions and local SHE Responsible individuals.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Develop the local SHE strategy and improvement plan with the site management team and the Group SHE team
  • Work with local management teams and SHE Advisors within the Fluids Manufacturing sites to ensure that Group Health, Safety and Environmental procedures are aligned with regulatory requirements and that they are routinely followed
  • Stay abreast of impending H&S legislation and ensure any new requirements are incorporated into Group Policies via the Group SHE team
  • Support and advise on the creation of high-quality risk assessments including specialist Risk Assessments e.g. Machinery and COSHH that ensures that a preventative approach is applied to working practice
  • Work with the Group SHE Officer to develop best practice behavioural safety processes to manage chemicals ensuring compliance with relevant legislative standards
  • Become an active member of the Global SHE community, the Group SHE team and all of the local SHE Advisors creating a network to help each other and drive further improvement
  • Support the development of a range of learning material for specialist areas particularly related to chemical management with the Group SHE team as well as co-ordinating/delivering subject focused learning material to the site teams
  • Support the evaluation, development and deployment of a SHE management software tool with the Group SHE team, and to assist in rolling out Group wide
  • Carry out incident investigations as and when required
  • Host audits to maintain ISO45001 and ISO 14001 accreditation for the sites as and when required
  • Carry out the Group SHE assessments in your sites with the local management team and report results and improvement plans to Group SHE team
  • Lead the Group Fluids SHE Forum, sharing best practice between the fluids sites
  • Act as a lead auditor of sites to the Group and local legislative requirements
  • Providing back up to the Group Fluids Process Safety Manager on aspects of PSM

About you

The ideal candidate will have previous significant experience in a senior SHE role within a fast-paced chemical or high-risk environment.  You will likely have a bachelors degree as well as a NEBOSH Diploma, an accredited environmental qualification and a strong fundamental understanding of Process Safety principles.  

You will have excellent people management skills and be able to develop and manage relationships with all kinds of people inside and outside the organisation and across different cultures.  You will be a skilled and effective communicator with the ability to influence key stakeholders.  Coaching and developing senior stakeholders, while showing resilience and capability of working at both a leadership level and hands on, will be essential for you to drive change across the sites.  

You will be able to travel internationally to support the overall Domino business strategy and continuous improvement initiatives. You will have extensive experience of leading safety and environmental activities in a high hazard chemical or related operation, and have familiarity with the handling of flammable and combustible liquids and powders.

Aviation Security

Due to the nature of this role the successful candidate will need Aviation Security Clearance.  Therefore Aviation Background checks as specified by the Civil Aviation Authority - including a DBS check and 5 years’ employment/educational references - will need to be completed before the successful candidate can start the role.
