What are peel-and-reveal labels and why are brands using them?

Peel-and-reveal labels are multi-layer labels that allow consumers to peel back a section of the label to access additional information, promotions, storytelling content, instructions, or interactive brand experiences. They help brands maximize packaging space while increasing consumer engagement and shelf appeal.

How does digital label printing support innovative peel-and-reveal packaging designs?

Digital label printing enables high-quality graphics, rapid design changes, shorter print runs, and cost-effective production of complex label formats. Combined with finishing technologies such as lamination, adhesive applications, and textured varnishes, it allows converters to create eye-catching peel-and-reveal labels that enhance brand differentiation.

What is hybrid label printing and why is it important for premium packaging?

Hybrid label printing combines digital printing with conventional processes such as flexographic printing and finishing. This approach allows converters to achieve exceptional print quality, variable data capabilities, specialty embellishments, and production efficiency in a single workflow, making it ideal for premium labels and packaging applications.

How does the Domino N610i digital label press help converters create award-winning labels?

The Domino N610i digital label press delivers high-resolution 600 dpi printing, consistent color quality, variable data capabilities, and reliable production performance. Its ability to integrate with flexographic printing and finishing equipment enables converters to produce innovative labels, including peel-and-reveal designs, promotional packaging, and high-value specialty applications that help brands stand out.

UK-based label converter, Labelnet, and Hackney Church Brewery have joined forces to produce a peel-and-reveal label on a Domino N610i label press. The ‘Noah Knows Best’ beer label has not only captivated consumers but also been recognised with the prestigious Digital Labels and Packaging ‘Excellence with Hybrid Printing’ Award, celebrating standout label design and print using a combination of two or more complementary digital and flexo processes.

“The initial impact of the label is excellent and eye-catching. This is further enhanced by the inner label peel-off door to reveal the print underneath, with the added detail of the double-sided print of the door peel to create the full ensemble. An impressive hybrid print winner.” Digital Labels and Packaging Award Judges’ comments

Labelnet’s award-winning labels were produced on two layers of white polypropylene, combining printing on their 5-colour roll-to-roll Domino N610i digital label press with offline lamination and adhesive kill on an Edale FL3, with a heavily textured varnish applied on an ABG Digicon providing the finishing touch.

“We were able to create a concept for this label by combining our customer’s inventive and alluring branding and bringing it to life with the print quality and resolution that the Domino N610i delivers in abundance. This press has been a source of reliability for us and has taken us to the next level as a business by constantly providing solutions. It is no surprise that the N610i was the foundation for our first Digital Labels and Packaging Awards win.” Rob Lorkins, MD, Labelnet

The N610i roll-to-roll press is based on Domino’s proven Generation 6 digital label printing technology, which has almost 350 installations worldwide. The print engine is also available as an Integration Module for incorporation into a flexo printing press, enabling converters to combine digital printing at 600dpi with analogue printing and finishing to create eye-catching labels in a single pass.

“Domino is delighted that Labelnet has been acknowledged for its innovative collaboration with Hackney Church Brewery. Using the Domino N610i in conjunction with ABG and Edale flexo stations has created an excellent example of the high-quality finish that the combination of digital and traditional flexo printing technology can achieve. We are proud that our technology has facilitated such success.” Craig Clawson, Sales Manager, Domino
