Software Test Engineer - Beyond Printer

About the role:
Your job will be to test and deliver class leading, reliable software solutions that help our customers utilise our industrial printers.
As part of a Scrum team, you will participate in the design and development of software solutions, using industry best practice, whilst embedding quality at every step. You will be involved throughout the product lifecycle, from discovery to delivery, where we look to achieve our company strategic goals by having a progressive and adaptable mindset that recognises both, business, and agile values and principles whilst being a role model for them. 

Responsibilities:
  • Delivering value to customers by testing and ensuring the quality of our software solutions.
  • Writing maintainable, robust, and scalable tests that cover functional and non-functional requirements utilising industry best practice.
  • Contributing to the design and delivery of a test pipeline that enables effective testing of our products.
  • Effectively implement Software Testing Life Cycle (plan, design, execute, analyse and report) and work collaboratively with peers and other stakeholders during each stage of the cycle.
  • Actively participate in requirements analysis, solution design from a testing and quality viewpoint.
  • Refining, estimating, and planning the product backlog.
  • Contributing to the full software test cycle, by creating and maintaining test plans, and designs ready for you and the team to execute.
  • Contributing to setup, configuration, and maintenance of test environments (HW and SW infrastructure).
  • Accurately recording defects discovered whilst executing test cases and report test metrics
  • Collaborating with the project team members to diagnose and rectify software problems.
  • Working alongside the team to ensure code has sufficient test coverage and is tested at the appropriate levels whilst following the test strategy.
  • Execution of some necessary and appropriate manual testing.
  • Help with the configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of hardware such as printers, test rigs etc.
  • Actively collaborate with individuals within the team to achieve our business objectives.
  • Contributing to improvement activities. (e.g. developing tools, ways of working, engineering practices)
  • Documenting design details, practices, and process improvements
About you:
We are looking for someone with experience of successfully delivering and supporting software products throughout the SDLC/STLC and wider product life cycle.

The successful candidate will also be:
  • Experienced in testing desktop applications.
  • Knowledgeable of software QA and test function, tools (e.g. Test Complete, PlayWright, Jira and XRay) and processes/practices (BDD, TDD, CI/CD), particularly in an agile working environment
  • Capable of automating software tests using Python
  • Experienced in utilising virtual environments such as Azure
  • Competent in GIT, including creating and maintaining GIT actions
  • Able to communicate complex idea/ solutions/ problems to other members of the team
  • Aware of agile ways of working, the values, and it’s principles
