Domino and MERCK KGaA, Darmstadt (MERCK) have developed a breakthrough application around the Domino F220i fibre laser

Despite being effective tools for visible-contrast marking and coding of plastic materials, solid state and fibre lasers have traditionally been less effective on polyethylene (LDPE and HDPE) and polypropylene, the two most commonly-used polymers in packaging.

This Achilles Heel can be overcome by providing a little help in the form of various additives. However, until now the marking time has been too long and the code too inconsistent for fast-moving consumer goods.

Working in close cooperation, Domino and MERCK KGaA, Darmstadt (MERCK) have developed a breakthrough application around the Domino F220i fibre laser coder and a new generation of MERCK additives. The result is high-speed, high-quality coding of even food and cosmetic packaging.
