PET or Polyethylene Terephthalate is a thermoplastic resin from the polyester family which has become one of the most commonly used plastics for a wide range of applications. The combination of PET’s strength, flexibility and light weight composition, and excellent barrier properties has been particularly suited to the beverage industry, where it is a widely used alternative substrate to glass for a host of beverage containers for carbonated soft drinks (CSDs), mineral water, ready-to-drink tea, juices and energy drinks.
