A welcoming and supporting environment for all

We know the world of work is more than the tasks that we do. It’s about opportunity and belonging and how we feel is really important to our individual success and contribution to the business. At Domino we want people to own the way they work. This could be through empowerment on a manufacturing site, it may be working from home or working in a hybrid role. Perhaps you’ll have the opportunity to relocate to another country? Or maybe you’ll choose to share your passion for progress and be encouraged to contribute to our inclusive culture for the benefit of us all, as well as your career.

Creating opportunities for a talented and diverse workforce

After completing my studies, a degree in chemistry and a PhD in inorganic chemistry, I started my career in Domino as a product support chemist. With mentoring and coaching from a few key managers, I was able to progress my career in a safe space, creating and exploring new opportunities and I now work as Programme Director with responsibility for all new product development projects.

We work in an industry where certain disciplines are gender biased and as a senior manager of the business, I champion that everyone should be given opportunities to progress and develop their career. We look to encourage our teams to feel comfortable and safe to have conversations about bias and look to remove the barriers that may have been there in the past.

Within the teams I work with, we have introduced an informal coffee morning where females meet each month to get to know each other, share experiences and best practice, and encourage wider group initiatives to challenge people’s thinking about diversity and inclusion.

I always encourage colleagues and peers to be successful in their role, realising their potential and growing careers as well as achieving objectives within the wider team. To change the future, you need to change the present and I like to have a team that is balanced and has diversity of thought and can disrupt the way we do things.

A flexible approach to working at Domino

At Domino, it’s important for us to provide opportunities for a more inclusive and productive environment and where possible, we welcome a more flexible approach to work.

Learn More

We do have a number of fixed site roles, normally based around specific hours and/or access to tools, resources, or equipment, but where the majority of a role can be performed safely and productively in a remote environment, this is offered to colleagues.

As well as posting all vacancies on our internal careers portal, we regularly advertise ‘Spotlight roles’ on our intranet. These roles are available for anyone who has the skills, can be located in any of our Domino regions, and offers great development opportunities for the right individual.

We’re a global business with global teams

I joined Domino in 1988 and held technical and marketing roles in the UK sales channel for a number of years. After a short time away from Domino, gaining experience in a different industry, I re-joined the organisation, working in product management and product marketing before moving into a Business Development Manager role three years ago.

I have worked as part of an international team for many years now, and I really enjoy interacting with a diverse culture base. Having a wide network of peers across multiple countries, provides opportunities to resolve issues and problems in creative ways. I regularly catch up with my colleagues working across different divisions and countries, and we are able to share best practice, skills, and expertise. We can use this information to identify and implement better strategies and solutions.

With my line manager and most of my peers working across different time zones, we are trusted and empowered to operate within a flexible support structure. Utilising resources such as Microsoft Teams, and WhatsApp enables quick response times to questions or queries.

Having had experience of working with global teams, I already had awareness of interacting with a diverse mix of cultures prior to moving into the Business Development Manager role. This provided the foundation for a smooth transition to working with my customer base of distributors and business subsidiaries within the Middle East and Africa. Now that travel is more accessible, spending time with our distributors face-to-face is very important to fully understand the significant challenges our customers face as well as the immense opportunities there are. I am always humbled to hear how happy our distributors are to work with Domino, and represent us in their countries. It makes me proud to work for a company with such a strong international reputation.
