Domino currently meets the Silver standard of EcoVadis’ 21 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) indicators for reducing risk, driving innovation and fostering transparency and trust with our trading partners. The EcoVadis pillars by which Domino standards are measured are Sustainable Procurement, Labour and Human Rights, Ethics and Environment. Domino’s scores are above average in each category.
Similarly, as a supplier member of Sedex’s (Supplier Ethical Data Exchange) Manufacture of Machinery and Equipment category, Domino drives supply chain improvements from several global sites. Domino’s processes are subject to the organisation’s regular independent ethical audits.
In 2017, Domino established a worldwide employee-participation programme to support the endeavours of SOS Children's Villages International. Its beneficiary was the Bhimtal Family Strengthening Programme in India – providing nutritional, educational and health support as well as vocational training, career counselling sessions and job placement support.
In the UK, Domino supports educational programmes in STEM subjects to school age pupils.
The 2017 installation of a Combined Heat and Power Unit at Domino’s Cambridge HQ is reducing the company’s CO2 footprint by over 22.8 tonnes annually. Similarly, sustainable lighting system will cut annual energy usage and CO2 emissions by 42,000kg.:
Accreditations
Domino's commitment to excellence is reflected by the ISO 9000 series of quality assurance accredited manufacturing plants in the UK, US and China as well as subsidiaries Spain, France and the Netherlands. Wiedenbach Apparatebau, a German Domino Group Company has also achieved ISO9001.
In addition to this, Domino's printer plant in China and fluid factories in the UK, China and the US have ISO14001 accreditation for environmental management and improvement. The accreditations were awarded as a result of continued achievements to reduce the plants’ electricity consumption without reducing production, and for cutting plant waste through recycling.
Domino Facts
Domino launched its first 4-colour N600i digital inkjet label press in 2012 operating at speeds of up to 75 metres a minute with a 600dpi native resolution. The next generation 7-colour N610i with Domino’s highly opaque white ink, orange and violet was introduced in 2014.
In 2018, 64 colleagues across the Bar Hill HQ and Liverpool sites had served 25 or more years with the company – which represents almost 8% of our UK workforce.
The technology and range of industrial printers and coders in the Domino Group portfolio includes continuous inkjet; scribing laser; fibre laser; Drop on Demand valve jet; Drop on Demand piezo; binary inkjet; thermal transfer overprinting; thermal inkjet and Print & Apply labelling.
Domino became an autonomous division within Brother Industries in 2015.
