Domino expects every employee to take individual responsibility for their performance and to work together to achieve our sustainability goals.

The Sustainable Development Goals created by the UN are adhered to by Domino Printing

We support the Sustainable Development Goals

We have assessed the full list of 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to identify where Domino can have - and is having - the most impact.

Supporting the SDGs with responsible technology

Domino’s core business activity contributes towards responsible consumption and production (SDG12), helping to eliminate food waste (SDG2) and supporting industry growth and innovation (SDG9).

In collaboration with our people

Across our global businesses, we have active projects which focus on promoting good health and well-being (SDG3), working towards good quality education (SDG4) and supporting decent work and economic growth (SDG8).

Applying our expertise to progress the UN Goals

While our business programmes actively contribute to almost all of the 17 SDGs, there are six goals against which we have the most significant impact, as shown below:

Click on each goal below to learn how Domino fulfils its commitment to ‘doing more’ with and for customers and our communities.

Goal 2: End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture

2: Batch coding technology enables efficient supply chain management and traceability, and provides the method for consumers to make sustainable choices. Date coding helps retailers and consumers to monitor stockholding to eliminate food waste. Variable data such as ingredients lists can inform regarding nutrition and allergens, while investments in extending the range of supported materials is aimed at assisting the world’s manufacturers to reduce packaging.

Goal 3: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all ages.

3: Our identification coding solutions provide extensive supply chain validation and control, from protecting the consumer against counterfeit products (including pharmaceuticals) to the management of hazardous chemicals. We also promote and fund health and well-being initiatives to our employees and their families across the group. For example in the UK we support mental health well-being and have a dedicated team of 15 mental health first aiders.

Goal 8: Promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth, employment and decent work for all.

8: We support global economic growth in the developing world with a wide range of solutions that make it quicker and easier for manufacturers of all sizes to comply with both domestic and international industry regulation, allowing them to be global in their outlook and ambitions. We have a worldwide trained workforce and help with the creation of a global skills base. Our product interfaces have been designed to be highly visual and easy to use (including the option of label configuration from central offices) allowing for a more inclusive workforce on production lines. We uphold both internal and supply chain policies about worker rights and prevention of forced work and slavery.

Goal 9: Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation

9: Our technologies support the creation of local infrastructures and enable cross border trade. As a global player, we enable development and local innovation through an international network of manufacturing and distribution facilities, with technology investment, research and development happening in offices across the world. In successfully overcoming the recent challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have illustrated the resilience of our infrastructure to support small and large manufacturers the world over.

Goal 12: Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.

12: Sustainable consumption and production aim at "doing more with less"; we provide industry solutions to achieve this via traceability, supply chain data provision and enable sustainable behaviour through transparency.

Goal 16: Promote just, peaceful and inclusive societies

16: We have high ethical values and ensure that our partners and suppliers abide by our principles, wherever they are.

Our partners and stakeholders

Achieving the SDGs will only be possible through ambitious collaboration.  We work alongside trusted partners to bring us closer to achieving these goals.

CSR in the news

Domino Printing Sciences (Domino) and Futamura have collaborated to assess the suitability of laser coding for NatureFlex compostable film products, to give food packaging customers a print-free solution for coding and marking their packaging.

As a business, Domino welcomes the annual awareness campaign by the Women’s Engineering Society to highlight the range of rewarding careers available in the STEM subjects of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, which for a long time were more popular with boys.

Environmental concerns surrounding unrecycled plastic waste have prompted a rise in alternative ‘sustainable’ solutions which look and feel like traditional plastic but can be composted at end of life, helping to combat excess waste.
